    My girlfriend of 4 years wants a break
    I have been dating my girlfriend for 4 years. The other night she told me that she has been stressed with school and work and has been thinking a lot and thinks we should take a break. We are both in college and are both each other 1st real serious relationship partner. She says that before she wants to get married she wants to make sure that I am the "one" so she wants to take a break to see what's out there. Do you think she's legit or is she playing me and she is never coming back.

    Read all of the stickies here. As well as some of the similar stories & advice.

    After 4 years, she wants to see what else is out there, especially given it is her first relationship.

    Being stressed out with school & work may be true, but is sounds like just an excuse to let you go.

    Girls usually know they want to breakup way before they drop the bomb.
    Sucks? Yes. The end of the world? No.

    "she wants to make sure that I am the "one"
    Im sure you understand that one.

    When girls want a break, give it to them, for good. And move on without false hope.

    She is legit, and the only way she can play you is if you don't leave her alone, and do your own thing. She will surely be doing hers.

    A break is a break up. Who knows if she will be back or not, as she doesn't know either. Breaks/break ups suck, but we survive.
