Rental issues

My husband and I live in a terrible drug riddled place. We are trying to find somewhere else to live but due to the fact my husband has a phone harrasement misdomeaner and a bankruptcy on his credit list we can't seem to find anyone to take us. Does anyone know what would happen if I rented the place and did not list my husband? I seriously can not take living where I am at anymore. We have rented for 12yrs and never once missed paying ontime but nothing seems to be helping us right now. I can't take it there has to be somewhere I can live that doesnt involve drugs addicts.

As long as your credit is good then there should be no problem. For him to be considered a tenant he must be listed as living there. I don't see why they would have to do a credit check on him, as well. Keep his name off the lease. Give it a try and see what happens. I have rented out apartments and only done a check on the person that was first on the app. as long a signed & agreed to be responsible for the money and condition of the rental. I would also show xld checks or rent receipts from the time I moved in until present, if needed. When I bought my 1st house I needed the landord to fill out a sheet stating how long I had lived ther and my rent amount for the previous 5 years. He wasn't very nice and would not bother so , I took my lease and rent xld checks to the bank where I wanted to get the mortg. loan from. I got the loan with out his help. Good luck

If one of my tenants lied about who was living in the property because they wanted to avoid a credit check and refused to have one, I would evict them as soon as possible.

If you have rented for 12 years with no late payments you obviously have a strong rental history. Use this to your advantage. When you go to look at a place, be honest with the landlord and tell them your situation; offer to put down a larger security deposit, or an additional month's rent if you can. Keep trying, someone will accept you.
