    Roommate left without notice
I had a roommate live with me for just over 9 months. She wasn't put onto my lease, I was subletting her the room. Yesterday I came home to find that she had packed up all of her belongings and left the apartment, without paying her final months rent. She also owed me money for the gas bill, and has causded considerable damage to the room I was subletting her. I have tried to contact her regarding get her final months rent but with no response that has settled it. What would be my best and next option into claiming back what she owes me. My rent is due in 3 days and I only have my half of it, as she gave me no notice that she was leaving. Can I take her to court over this?

    Thanks! Jules

First, it is not a good idea to piggyback your question on another thread. Especially when it doesn't pertain to your question. To avoid confusion I've moved your post to its own thread.

Second, did she give you a deposit? If so, you can use that to cover what she owes you. Otherwise, you will have to file suit in Small Claims court for what she owes. However, you will need to pay your landlord what is due, since the roommate was your responsibility not his.
