breaking a lease

I reside in charlotte, north carolina and I'm trying to break my lease due to my job is sending me out of town for two (2) months, landlord states that I would have to pay 750 so that it would not go on my credit as a bad debt. What do I need to do?

Follow the terms and conditions of your lease. Does your lease allow you to break it to move ?
I would ask where are you going to live in 2 months ?

if you are merely out of town for 8 weeks most people keep thier home and just live in temp housing for 8 weeks

It appears they are asking for a settlement, if this is less than required by the lease it may be a good deal

You may consider subletting your apartment at the forfeiture of your security deposit.
