I rent and occupy a two family dwelling shared with my landpeople, husband and wife team. They switched our furnaces without notifying me. Suddenly my gas bill shot up after the switch. Did they have any rights to do that without notification? :-/

Read over your rental contract and see if it says anything about that. Or take it to a lawyer and ask him to look it over. If the event that the landlord is in the wrong, you will need the lawyer anyway.
