Renewal of Lease Time Frame

I live in Cali-a-fornia and I was wondering, how long of a lead time does a apartment complex have to give you before they raise the rent. Our current apartment complex gave us a notice that we had to reply within 7 days with an answer. At past residences, I had always been given 30+ days notice. This way I had an option to look at other places before I committed to another 1-2 years.

Thanks,

me

Hello dj:

If you're a month to month tenant, they can raise the rent every month, but they need to give you 30 days notice first.

You don't have to "reply" to notice. They give it to you or not.
