Quit Claim Deed (backdate?)

My mother owns a house and can no longer make the payments. Last year I agreed to take over the house and make the payments. I have been paying on the house for the the entire 2006 year and would like to claim the taxes on the house. Someone told me I need to file a Quit Claim Deed. My question is; is there any way possible to back date a Quit Claim Deed so I can claim the taxes for 2006? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
