Old Lien on Property

Hi,

I have a lien which showed up on my property from a previous owner. The lien should have been settled in 1987. It doesnt show up as discharged at the county clerks office either. My attorney isnt really putting effort into getting it removed. How can I find out more information so I can at least get a letter from the bank saying it was paid off. I tried calling the bank myself but its so old that they couldnt find it.

Go the the Clerk of the COurt office and ask them for a copy of the lien that was attached, it has to be recorded to be valid.

From that you can take it to the bank and tell them to pull their record.,

Hello mp:

When you bought the property, hopefully you purchased title insurance. If you did, the company you bought it from, insured that you were getting a clean title. Apparently, you didn't. Therefore, that company is where I would make my inquiries.
