the house in which i am renting is being forclosed on!

I am renting an apartment in a triple decker in Brockton, Massachusetts. We have been having feelings about a foreclosure happening and today we got confirmation. The landlord was served with a notice of a forclosure on august 27. I want to know what will happen to me? Do I pay him rent for the coming month or hold on to it? I am a tenant at will and the land lord has not taken care of the house and has not given us any receipts for rent in the last 7 months despite us asking for them. Please help!!!!

Are you paying cash for your rent? If so, WHY? Pay only be check or money order. Mark the check or MO carefully, Jul 07 Rent 123 Elm St. Then you won't need or worry about receipts.

In a foreclosure all lease obligations are terminated. However, until the foreclosure is official, your lease is in effect and you have to continue paying rent as if it didn't exist.

You should start looking for a new place. You say you are an at will tenant which I assume means on a month to month lease. Therefore, you can give 1 rental period as notice. So start looking. After the foreclosure you will be given some time to find a new place, but it may not be a lot.
