homeowners association filed a lien

i want to know the statue of limitations for a homeowners association to collect money from me for alledged non payment of yard maintience fees they filed a lien on my property for non payment.

I may wrong, I am not an atty but I believe the lien stays until the debt is paid or until a court renders a decision in your favor. In that case, the HO Assoc would have to then release the lien.
