    Expired lease
I signed a lease for 1 year beginning June 1, 2005. I have been living here for the last 3 years without a current signed lease. I plan on giving 30 days notice on August 1st. Can he try to hold me to a lease being that I don't have a current signed one by saying I have an assumed one? Is he entitled to parade people through my house to show it? Are cheap rugs that wore considered normal wear and tear and linoleum discoloring from the glue underneath considered normal wear & tear? Thank you.

You really should tell him now that you plan to move by the end of August.
How old are the rugs? I read somewhere that rugs over 5 years old it would be considered normal wear and tear and I would think the discolored linoleum would be normal wear and tear too.

Normally you will go to a month to month, unless the original lease had it where it automatically renewed, you need to read your lease carefully.
Has the rent terms changed over the time.

Also read the old lease carefully, since even if it went to month to month the terms to give notice may still be in effect, so check to be sure it is 30 days not 60 days.

Rugs sound like wear and tear, they are allowed to show the apartment with notice.
