My Boyfriends locked up for a hit and run. we have been living in his moms house for over a year, she gave me the impression she wasnt interested in his case so i rarely speak to her about whats going on with him. All shes ever asked me about him is "how is he doing" Natrually my response is: "hes ok, as good as he can be in jail", then usually thats the end of the conversation. She's never asked me specifically "what's going on with his case". Today I came home from visiting my boyfriend in jail, and his mother is all over me about why i never tell her whats going on with her son. I told her because she never asked me specifically whats going on, so i figured she didnt want to know (I was very calm and respectful and always have been twards her). She got in my face started yelling at me so i yelled back. I asked her to get out of my face and to leave me alone, she followed me around the house while I was looking for my phone, still yelling at me about god knows what, (I just tried to blank her out) I uttered to myself " I'm getting the out of here", and she threw a glass of water at me screaming that I was cursing at her. I started crying and screaming back at her. I ran to the phone and called the police. ("They never showed up"). While I waited for the police to show up she kept yelling and threatening to throw me out of the house. She called me a piece of , a fat (BTW she weighs like 240 or 260) we pushed and shoved each other, she kept calling me names so i called her names to. eventually she went to her room and I went to mine. it's hours after the incident and no police?? can she throw me out?? I pay her for what I use, I pay the con edison bill and give her $140 a week, and buy most of the food in the house, but all of the bills are in her name and the house belongs to her and her sister. I'm just renting out the attic. I dont use a t.v I have a tablet and a computer so thats my entertainment. I use the kitchen but I also cook for everyone whos here, "when I do cook".

Short answer is YES....she can evict you...its HER house after all not yours.

From my past experience from my ex-mother in law i can tell u its better to get ur own place even tho u put in money because shes always gonna be down ur throat nd at ur own place no one can tell u anything bcuz u pay ur rent. And she doesnt have the right to kick u out because u help out. Also tlk it out with ur man an see what he tells u because u guys are a couple and she needs to respectr u are her son's girlfriend.

Totally incorrect...pay nothing or pay ALL the bills....its still the Boyfriends mothers house..NOT yours. She CAN EVICT you. Source:.

Would you PLEASE..spell out your words...there are very clear rules on this site that prohibit Chatspeak on ALL its forums. I got a headache trying to read that.
And besides...Its the boyfriends mothers house...She was every right to evict her no matter if she pays ALL the bills or none of them. And the respect should be going to the Homeowner...be glad you were allowed to live there at all so far.
And she can do it in as little as 2 weeks in Florida..but 30 days on average in most of the country.

Thanks. I've been saving up for a place of my own, but NY is sooooo exspensive and I have a little puppy so finding an apartment was really hard. I have $1,000 saved up right now but tuesday I have to pay my lawyer $500 then friday I get paid again. Most apartments want around $3,000 up front before moving in. It would be nice for my boyfriend to come home to his own place, and not be in his moms house. I will keep looking for apartments, I feel a little more hopeful.

Interesting - but this is a legal forum. What's your legal advice?
If you continue to use text speak on the legal thread your posts will be removed.

April21, Start looking then...at least then you would be moving on your terms and schedule. Get hit with an eviction and 30 days to be out and you don't have something already lined up and it could be bad for you.

Point made. Regardless if it's her house I still deserve respect, I work hard and have never disrespected anyone in my life. She's never acted like this before. We are all stressed out about the situation, but throwing things at me and calling me names, will not be tolerated no matter who you are, and it certianlly won't help the situation at hand.

That is not a correct assumption...Respect is earned, It's not a birthright....if you get it...consider yourself lucky. Take that to heart or you are going to find yourself in one conflict after another the rest of your adult life.
You are entitled to Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.....nowhere in the Bill of rights is respect mentioned.

Soon to be ex-wife left over year and a half ago, she makes no payments towards anything pertaining to the house. Now she has a problem with me. I have been living there for six months now and she is threatening to have me kicked out just because she doesn't like me anymore and just to hurt him.
My boyfriend got this long email from his mom last night that totally blind-sided me. I know she'd made some offhanded comments about my wrist tattoo (it's a flower) and my nosering in the past, but I thought those were just generational gap things that she'd get over or at least still like me...
My boyfriend's mother is an absolute dragon. She totally despies me. She always finds something to critisize me about. She says stuff like I eat too much, although I only weigh 55 kg and am 22 years old.. The one time I played with my b/f and pinched his butt and then she whispered to him that only...
My boyfriend's father passed away this last January. His mother has been spending her time coping (they were married almost 50 years), and has been getting ready to sell her 1.5 million dollar home for a smaller more manageable place.
I have been there right along with my boyfriend helping her...
My boyfriend's roommate is a real jerk, and he wants to kick my boyfriend out in 72 hours. I don't know if my boyfriend signed anything or if the landlord knows he lives there.
