Adding a clause into a lease
We are about to sign a lease to rent a home from the owner in California for two years so that we can lower the rent. In past leases, there was a clause that allowed us to give 60 days notice (or two months rent) to break the lease. The landlord will allow me to add this in to the lease, but I don't know how to word it properly so that it is legal. Any suggestions?

Are you sure that the landllord will agree to that? Why would he? That would, in effect, make the lease a two month lease.

"The tenant may terminate this lease with 60 days written notice."
