30 day notice

i recently closed escrow on my new home. i was not sure that escrow would close on time or that it would close at all. we had a lot of bumps in the road. So for that reason i did not give a 30 day notice, i wanted to make sure escrow closed. I currently rent on a month 2 month basis. I gave 30 day notice as of 10/25/06. am i required to pay rent on 11/01/06 for the full month?

what does your written rental agreement say ?

It would be viewed as a month to the 25th so you could ask to pro rate it.
but of course you are only talking about less than a week of rent.

Remember it is not your landlords fault you waited for cllosing, so tey should not be harmed in your business chioice

Probably - talk to your landlord....you should have been keeping your landlord in the loop during your escrow process - otherwise you need provide the written notice AND pay the rent through that notice.

Pay November. If the unit can be rerented immediately the landlord may refund a prorated portion.

Another factor is how much your security deposit is and if you prepaid first and last months rent. You could tell the landlord to just take the security for the last months rent. if you do that, you NEED to either do a walk thru with the landlord after the movers have left and have them sign off on the condition. Or you can have a 3rd party attest to the condition.
