Purchasing from China

Hello,

I need advise on purchasing textiles from China. I want to purchase Banquet style Chair Covers from Ningbo, China. Their web site is www.chaircoverchina.com. They want you to wire your money first and then they will start production. I would like to be protected on my end too. I am being very cautious about dealing with them even though I know all the major Hotels are probably buying from them. You can buy one for $2.30 verses $7.00 and up in US. Any advise on running a small rental business would be very helpful as well !

Thank You
Mona E.

Hi,

I understand your worries.

I purchase aluminium and plastic products from companies in China, India and Taiwan some of these companies want a minimum of 30% before they start production, but most want 100% and delivery within 30 days sometime 45 days. It's a long time to have paid and then have to wait for the goods.

Shipping depends on quantities weight of shipment etc. To date I have not had any problems with missing late or failed deliveries from any of these companies. Still I'm sure there are members who have had problems.

Depending on the cash amount, you could pay with credit card, goods are insured. Alternatively you could ask the seller for their bank details and arrange with your bank to do a credit transfer. More than likely if they pass on their bank details there shouldn't be a problem.

Col

Ask them to provide you references. Followup with other companies that deal with them to see if they are reliable and whether they have to deal with the same terms. See if there might not be a third party that can act as an escrow agent.

Well,
I found a young man in China on Alibaba web site and ask him to check the company out for me. He was very nice and phoned the company and spoke to the sales manager.
I went ahead and ordered from him. Everything has arrived in record time. It went through customs with no trouble and all the merchandise was very good quality.
I'm very happy I ordered from China and thankful to my new friend in China for helping me!

You may want to use L/C(letter of credit) at first although you have to the bank some fee for openning L/C but it is safer than W/T. Only when both sides established a good relationship and trust each other, you may consider to accept 30% deposit and then 70% after receiving Bill of Lading or even better receiving the shipment. _Personal Opinion.

Can you buy small quantities? How long does it take for the company to reply. I emailed last week and have not gotten a response.
