I think I broke my printer

2 days ago i tried printing a page from my browser and the paper jammed. I lifted the glass up and tried to find the printer head so I could move it. I was in a rather unpatient mood and I ripped out he paper which was terribly swarshed to the right side. Now my printer doesnt work anymore. I keep getting an error code. I tried replacing the ink jets, and that made things worse. It says it cannot clean the jets.

It will cost me $25 to have it serviced plus whatever is wrong to fix. I am thinking I should go to Staples and just buy a whole new printer for $75. What do you think??

Someone advise, thanks.

The usual rule-of-thumb for many businesses to decide whether to replace a broken item is whether or not the cost to repair will be more than half the cost to replace. In your place, it's 1/3 the cost to replace so the rule-of-thumb says to repair it.

The second thing to consider is whether the printer is obsolete or too slow. $75 for a printer isn't a lot of money, so the replacement printer can't be a great printer. The question you have to ask is whether you really would prefer to get a new printer or not.

Hi little hampster. I priced the printers at Staples, I have a $25 coupon for them...and the one I want was on sale for $99. It sells for $108 at Walmart. And I just got this $30 coupon I might be able to use online... so it looks like I am in for a new printer. It also has the scan, fax and photo capture. I screwed up, for what reason I dont know... but I feel more confident that it is Vista ready, because my last printer was not really made for Vista. So I guess things have a funny way of working out.

thanks again.
