Update

Well, Just thought I would give a little update to everyone. Just went to the doc today, my 37th week check up. after telling him about my previous labor and delivery with my first son, and my fears of having the same things happen again, he told me that if at 39 weeks I was considered favorable, then they would induce, but if not, then they wouldn't. He said that is probably why I ended up having to be induced twice last time, because even at 41 weeks, things weren't favorable enough to get things started with just one try, esp. with him being my first baby. After that he checked me and said that things have not progressed much at all since last week, (dont think I'm even a one yet)and that he hoped baby would come out on his own, but he had a feeling that he was going to end up making it hard on me. *sigh* that's what I was afraid of. SOOOO, if we are both getting the right messages, it appears I will end up going the whole 40 and have to be induced again...........hopefully just once.......... So long as he is healthy, I am fine with it....... I am just afraid of having to go through the same uncertainty and fear that we did with my first son.

I know my wife was induced. It did not progress as fast as the doctor wanted so ended up being pretty forceful, did not even let us know what she was doing, but ended up surprisenly breaking the water.

Best of luck to you in the upcoming event. May I ask, I do not remember. What kind of uncertainity did you face with your first boy?

Joe

Don't know your previous circumstances, but wish you luck and a healthy baby. Relax. You and baby will be fine and in a few weeks you'll be at home looking into a brand new pair of eyes....

He was a week over due, and they induced me(twice, first time didnt work) because he was getting too big. 8lb 21 1/2 inch. He ended up having mechonium staining, and they didn't make him breath right away because they were trying to get all the stuff suctioned out, then it took them a few minutes to get him to breath. I didn't get to see him until 5 hours after he was born, they just wisked him right out of the room because they needed to put him in an incubator and start an iv in his belly button, etc, in case he had inhaled some of the mechonium. He was in there for 2 days, I could only hold him for feedings, were in the hospital for four days. Luckily he's a healthy and strong and smart little boy, and there was nothing more serious, but it was very scary for first time parents. would rather not have that happen again.

Maybe you induction should be done earlier then 40 weeks. My wife was induced at 39 weeks. Especially if the baby is at a good weight. Strong.
I hope you do not mind me suggesting this. Your babies are of good weight, so why not before the baby gets too big to start the induction. Yes, there are riskes to inducing but for my wife we were 1 and half drive away from the hospital and her having epilepsy we did not want to take any chanches and we wanted everything planned out and all scheduled and it turned out fine.

I do wish the best for you. Good luck with everything. I am sure maybe this time around maybe they will use something stronger to start the induction.

Joe

Oh absolutely,I am all for being induced early, infact I already talked to the doctor about that. He said that if I was favorable at 39 weeks, they would try to induce me, but they wanted to wait until I was favorable. But my point is, I wasn't favorable with my first son, even though I was a week over due, so I really doubt I will be this time around either, as things are progressing exactly the same as they did last time. I was hoping that they would try to induce at 38 weeks( will be 38 weeks on wednesday) but he didn't seem like he wanted to try at that point. I go in for my next appointment next friday, and have a different doctor(one of my favorites) and I think I will ask him if he will induce me the next week if I still haven't made progress. Not sure what else to do.

Jesushelper76 agrees: Too early is not good eighter. I mentioned 38 weeks but I am sure they prefer 39 or later, but you never know until you ask.

Well, was having some fairly uncomfortable contractions last night. Lasting 60 seconds, 5 minutes apart, for half an hour. Was just about to go in to the hospital, and they stopped :0( They advised us that if they are 10 minutes or less apart, last 30-70 seconds, and keeps it up for half an hour to call the doc, so I was just about it, adn it all stopped. Oh well.......... I guess it's a good sign tho, that things are moving along and gearing up.......I hope. I really want to go into this the natural way this time.

Well, Thought I would add to the updates. will be 40 weeks on wednesday.Went to the docs yesterday, and he said I'm still not making ANY progress. He said they won't do anything until I am 41 weeks, because if I'm not in a favorable position, I am more likely to end up having a c-section. SOOOO, looks like I'm in for another over due baby........

Oh, sweetie, I am so sorry to hear you have to continue to wait. But remember, they have to make sure baby's lungs are ready to breathe room air.
