hello every1 i'm 23 years old and i have irregular periods sometimes and a friend of mine told me that this could prevent me from ever having children is that true? thanks in advance
Irregular periods can cause conception to be very difficult to accomplish. But in most cases it is still possible to conceive. If you are trying to conceive now then first speak to your ob/gyn. If your doctor feels that you may have some difficulty conceiving then they may refer you to a fertility specialist.
I have never had what anyone would consider a normal period. Sometimes I skip a month, sometimes I go for weeks. It is all from a hormonal imbalance, go figure. I have two of the healthiest kids alive. What my doc and midwife told me is that it can cause problems when trying to get pregnant, if you are using a schedule etc. But when you do it can also cause multiple births. Often with women who have irregular periods they somehow can drop more eggs at a time due to the same hormonal imbalance causing them to have irregular periods. So its a catch 22, it might cause problems but it might increase your chances.
