Pregnancy symptoms, 4 wks late but 2 negative hpt!
I am four weeks late with my period, have a bloated stomach, sore tingling breasts and have done two home pregnancy tests but they have said negative! dont understand, could anyone help with any info?! xxxx
Stess, diet and some medications can cause your period to be delayed, and in some cases can cause you to skip an entire cycle.
On the other hand, I would schedule a doctor's visit to confirm you are not pregnant. Ask for a quantative blood test, this is the most accurate test in detecting pregnancy
There are so many possible explanations here. Only your doctor can give you the absolute answer, but I can give a few suggestions. Pregnancy is one option. Also, it is not uncommon to be late, or even completely miss a cycle now and then. I was once 2 1/2 months late, and I started up like normal after that and I was completely healthy, no problems, just late. If you are wanting to be pregnant badly, (or fearing it) you can stress your period into being late, or missed. The mind is a powerful thing, and its surprisingly easy to trick your body into thinking something is up, when it really isnt. It could be from stress, change in diet, change in excersize, lifestyle, normal hormonal changes, pregnancy, medication, illness, etc the list goes on and on. even being around other women for long periods of time can throw your cycle off(I use to live with my sister, a few seperate time in life, and each time we would throw eachothers cycles off. I would start when she did, or vice versa, whether it be late or early)I suggest you go in for a qualatative blood test at the local hospital. Its not much more expensive then a hpt, and more accurate. If it comes out negative still, but you still dont start, go see your doctor. From there they will probably take a number of steps (one of which may be ordering a quantative blood test. this test is more accurate then the first, as it measures the actual number of hcg in your system. if the number is high enough to raise suspicion of pregnancy, the test will be repeated within a few days to see if the number is doubling as it should in a normal healthy pregnancy) It may just be that your hcg levels arent high enough to register on the other tests yet.perhaps you just need to have your cycles jump started with provera, etc. But as I said, your doctor is the best source for you at this point in time. good luck.
