One day period not pregnant yet
Is driving me crazy... I am very regular every 28 days and I had a period on Aug 4th. I expected the next one around Sept 3. I started my period on Sept 2nd I felt very nauseated and it was very light and just felt odd. I said to my husband I know I just started my period but I am 90% sure I am pregnant I have never felt more positive. I didn't think of being pregnant prior to that day. My period stopped the next day. I thought wow I must be pregnant, (I have three other children 9, 8, 2) so I took a test -- negative took a test every week -- negative on the fourth test on Oct 1st it was positive. I go to the doctor on Oct 10 and he says he doesn't see a baby and it may have died I go through all this bloodwork and such to determine that I am only 7 weeks along... He insists still that my conception had to have been around Sept 20th... So... how is that possible? I had a one day light period and felt pregnant but just happened to get pregnant when I thought I already was? Dr. says that sonogram is very accurate and can not be wrong that early... though my hcg levels were very very high for that time. I guess I couldn't have been pregnant or a test would have tested positive earlier right? My due date is June 14th and now that it is so close to that time I am really starting to wonder what happened?? Could I have been pregnant or is there some weird cycle that can occur to make you more fertile? Please point me in some direction...

I also get your conception date as September 20 according to your due date.

Your doctor is correct that sonograms that early are most accurate. However, there is room for error of only a few weeks. Four weeks + would be too much of a difference.

According to what I originally thought my conception would have been Aug 28 up to Sept 1st. I guess it is wrong, just a weird coincidence. But, I wonder, why was my period only one day? What else could cause that and cause me to get pregnant in that same month?

Is my due date right, wrong or off a little?
On Aug 4 I had pd. On Sept 3 I had a one day pd thought I may be pregnant. Hpt came out negative then but positive on Oct 4th.

Had vaginal ultrasound on Oct 15th dr said 7 weeks along due date June 14th. Conceived Sept 20th.

Dr. insists he is right and it cannot be any other way. I think I ovulated late in Aug and conceived sometime between Aug 28 - Sept 1st. (Married 12 years have 2 year old daughter and visitors in Sept so we don't and didn't do it much but did that week because people were coming to stay for the month)

So, I think that would make my implantation about a week later (Sept 7) and my due date around May 25th.

Question I ask you is... Does that sound possible? Or is the vaginal ultrasound pretty much it?
What else could have caused a one day period and the feeling I had that I was pregnant when I may not have been?

Anyone have similar experiences with due date being wrong the whole time?

Emotion, stress, weather can cause a change in your cycle. And, yes, I've heard of due dates being wrong for the entire pregnancy. I just don't know how often that happens.

As far as not doing "much" because you had company, as you know, it doesn't take "much. Just takes once!

Personally my OB/GYN has a lot more experience in these matters than I do so I believe her.

As your due date gets closer, maybe yours will change his/her mind or maybe you will agree with him/her.

EDIT: Now that I've taken the time to respond to you I realize that you have another thread on this same subject and that thread has been answered by an R.N.

Please don't keep opening new threads on the same subject.

My due date changed 3 times with my son, twice with my daughter.

Due dates are just an estimate, it's not written in stone. The majority of women don't give birth on their due date.

The usual rule is 45% of women will give birth within 2 weeks before their due date, 45% will give birth within 2 weeks after their due date, and 10 % will actually give birth on or within a day or two of their due date.

The vaginal ultrasound is a lot more accurate then someone thinking they ovulated on a certain date. :)

Just be prepared any time after your 38th week to have your baby.

    Congrats.

I have another thread because apparently no one could understand what I was asking and I wasn't very clear in my story so I just rewrote it clearer. I had the same question on other sites as well and minimal answers that were completely not what I was asking and some just saying I have no idea what you are saying. So, I am not trying to open several threads with the same question but ask my questions in a clearer way so I can get an actual answer that helps. Then what would be the point of asking anything at all? I didn't even notice that a great rn answered my posting but it must not have been what I was looking for or I would not keep looking would I?
    Thanks for your help...

Luvbuggys. You said that the answers you received wasn't what you're looking for. How so? Are you looking for facts, or confirmation on how you feel?

The fact is, a vaginal ultrasound is pretty reliable. You see, pregnancy has developmental stages. When an ultrasound is done they can usually determine, pretty accurately, how far along you are by what growth stage the fetus is in. It's far more accurate then going by your last period only.

There's a huge difference in growth when you add or subtract a month. In the early stages of pregnancy there's a noticeable difference in growth from week to week. So the ultrasound is pretty accurate.

I'm sure that you'll have another ultrasound further along in your pregnancy. The due date may well change again when you do, but it's very doubtful it will change by a whole month.

Another fact. Your doctor went through many years of schooling in order to say "I'm right", I'd be inclined to trust what he says.

If you aren't confident in your doctor, perhaps seek a second opinion.

I'm sorry it wasn't wrong or anything it was the way I typed my question that I wasn't getting the responses I was looking for I re posted the question differently to clarify. I actually only think that I am about 2 weeks off not a month because I think I ovulated late and that mixed with implantation timing would only be off in measurement about a week and a half. But it does also bring on a new question for me is how on Oct 15th did I measure 7 weeks 4 days if I conceived on Sept 20? That isn't 7 weeks so is the actual measurement also changed with the 2 weeks given normally for lmp? Or is it the size of the fetus so do you add two weeks to that size to get how far along you are? I am all confused right now... All I think about is the baby and worry constantly I think I am just trying to direct the worry somewhere because I feel like I am 2 weeks from delivery (based on how I felt with the other 3) and am scared it may be premature if that is true and it just confuses me as to why did I think I was pregnant AND have a one day period AND just happen to get pregnant that same month?? I don't get that at all and can't make sense of it...

Well if you read that whole think thanks!!

And here is a copy of my simplified posting:

On Aug 4 I had pd. On Sept 3 I had a one day pd thought I may be pregnant. Hpt came out negative then but positive on Oct 4th.

Had vaginal ultrasound on Oct 15th dr said 7 weeks along due date June 14th. Conceived Sept 20th.

So, I think that would make my implantation about a week later (Sept 7) and my due date around May 25th.
Dr. says I am measuring around 34wks and my calculations put me at around 36 weeks...

Question I ask you is... Does that sound possible? Or is the vaginal ultrasound pretty much it?
What else could have caused a one day period and the feeling I had that I was pregnant when I may not have been?

Anyone have similar experiences with due date being wrong the whole time?

You won't necessarily get the answers you are looking for. You will get answers but they very well may not be what you want to hear.

Your question was answered by a Labor Registered Nurse (J9). Are you questioning both her AND your Physician?

You owe J9 an apology for both the uncalled for "reddie/wrong" comment (she was not factually wrong) and your attitude. If you already have all the answers, why are you asking the question?

Please read the AMHD rules concerning rating answers and opening multiple threads before you continue on the site.

You need to review the guidelines on how to use the rating system. Found here... https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/forum-...nes-24951.html

Just click that. Once you do, I will respond. And yes, I am a Labor and Delivery nurse. I think I know what I am talking about.

You see, when doing a transvaginal ultrasound the sonographer measures the femur bone, the abdominal girth and the circumference of the head. In early pregnancy these measurements are quite consistent and gives us an estimated gestational age. Later in pregnancy these measurements are not quite as accurate. This is why the doctor gave you the due date he/she did.

Again, this is ONLY an estimate since there is no camera inserted in your fallopian tube to know exactly when the sperm fertilized the egg.

Once the baby is born the pediatrician, or the nursery nurse, will do an examination. Some hospitals use the Dubowitz and others use the New Ballard exam to determine if the baby is full term, preterm or post term.

All of pregnancy is a guessing game.

Don't worry I am not going to continue on this site, it is way too much stress for me, I already have enough of that. What I don't get is why YOU are not understanding that I typed MY QUESTION wrong and I SAID I GOT THE WRONG ANSWER because IIIIIIIIII --NOt anybody else --- ASKED THE WRONG QUESTION --SO I WANTED TO CORRECT MY QUESTION -- NOT SAYING ANYBODY IS WRONG BUT WRONG FOR ME BECAUSE OF ME MYSELF AND I SPEAKING INCORRECTLY -- Get that through your head and have a nice day

Also, I hope it doesn't hurt too bad when you take that long fall off your very HIGH HORSE!!

I do see that you can't get your dates straight. They differ on your two threads. Is that the information that you were correcting in your second thread? I don't see how the change in dates changed your question - and the answers.

It appears that you posted your second question after insulting J9 and being asked to read the AMHD rules.

But you're gone and won't read this anyway so -

I had said that this one was not helpful and not the answer I was looking for because I know that according to my due date it would calculate to Sept 20. That is easy to figure out with a calender
And it appeared that I was asking that I thought it could be over a month different because I put that my lmp was on Aug 4th but neglected to put in my information that I think I ovulated late which would make it appear as if my lmp was around Aug 18th making me ovulate 2 weeks later than normal so I my due date and conception date would only be 2 weeks off not 4+ weeks. Therefore, this answer would not help me determine if I was about to go into labor if it would be premature of not.. And I was looking lfor other mom's stories.Sorry for all the confusing... Just a worried mommy trying to calm herself no instigate some off the wall online feud...

Also, actually I find this answer getting there because I wonder you said there is room for error of only a few weeks... does that include the first ten weeks? I try to ask my doctor every appointment especially at the end now but he just tells me I have anxiety and not to question him, which makes me even more worried, because that doesn't answer anything to me and tells me he isn't very open minded. But, two weeks doesn't really make a difference as long as I get close enough because I am pretty positive it can't be 4+ weeks off like you said so I think he should be okay either way so now I am moving on to worrying about my birthplan... Thanks for helping!!

Sorry to keep going but, I also wanted to clarify that I think my main worry beside him being born too early if Iam wrong is, after having 3 children and knowing what it feels like to be pregnant (I always found out in the first mth of pg) but never being completely sure until a positive test... why did I think 90% that I was pregnant when I was starting my period and that same period end up being one day? AND end up being pregnant that same mth? Is there like an odd ovulation cycle that can occur to make you more prone to being pregnant. Could I have ovulated late and got pregnant the same day or a couple days before my period? And if sonograms can be off by a couple weeks is it possible that I was pregnant on Sept 1?
