This is definitely a question to ask your doctor. They can give you more indepth answers to your questions. However, I can tell you that you need to be careful of what fish you eat, and how much. Some fish contain mercury, and too much of this can really harm the baby. But as I said, you should really talk to your doctor about this.

I agree, your OB/GYN would know best. You may or may not have underlying medical conditions that only your doctor can address.

You may find this site helpful, it gives you a list of foods that are considered risky to pregnant women:-

I'm not a doctor--but i can just tell you what they've told me--
i was told not to eat sushi, or any large fist like shark or swordfish b/c the mercury content in larger fish is usually higher. also artificial rasberry flavored, and herbal teas aren't good for you-i can't remember why, but you could ask about it. Just make sure to take your prenatal vitamins and you may want to ask about calcium supplements if you can't or just don't like milk.
And remember your not eating for two fullsize line backers-a common misconception among the pregnant population-just thought i'd throw that in there.

hi,
some cheeses are bad for you when preggo due to not being pasterised, i think blue cheeses are off, brie, and alot of french cheeses. i have heard aspirin is bad too, pate is also off the menu. heather83 is right, large fish should be avoided, including tuna. also, avoid caffeine, tea and coffee due to the caffeine... fizzy drinks such as coke also contain caffeine.

my partner is a real foody and has done extensive food hygiene courses so i was constantly being reminded what not to eat! i went right off coffee and fish anyway though! good luck!!

Hi! All these people telling you not to eat fish reminded me of a news story that ran in the UK earlier this year!

BBC NEWS | Health | Fish in pregnancy 'benefits baby'

In the UK we are now recommended to eat 1-2 portions of oily fish a week during pregnancy! You should only avoid the worst fish, like sharks, marlin etc.

ANy soft cheeses that are unpasturized such as blue, feta, brie... Large fish such as tuna or swordfish (not to much of any fish actually- especially shellfish), peanut butter in large quantities has been found in the past few years to cause nut allergies, Caffeine, alcohol... there's more but I can' remember- your doc should have a complete list!
