Labor soon?

Hello I am 36 weeks with my first child. I went to my doctor yesteday and he said I was dilated to a 2. Last night I woke up at 4:30 am because my stomach felt extremly tight kind of like contractions, but not regular. I couldnt go back to sleep. Could I be going into labor before I am expected to. My due date is Oct 20.
Kellie

Well, I believe this is a precursor to labor. Your body is getting ready to have the baby.

Being dilated to 2 is normal for right now. And the tightness you felt wa most likely Braxton-Hicks contractions.

If the contractions remain irregular there is probably nothing to worry about. However, keep note of it and mention it to your doctor at your next visit.
