Have had the Mirana IUD for almost 4 years now. No problems... till now. NO PERIOD!!!! I have a few symptoms of pregnancy but just not sure. I don't know what to think. More and more lately I've herd of these IUDs failing. What should I do? Does anyone know of anyone thats been pregnant with Mirana?

well...gotta ask, did you take any drugs while you were on mirena?

mirena needs to replaced every 5 years...so closer to 5 years, there's a chance it's effectiveness could wear off.

how long has it been since you missed your period? if you think you're pregnant, it's best to contact your doc immediately as mirena will affect your pregnancy.

what do you mean drugs? Like antibotics? I take over the counter stuff. Can that effect the effectiveness? I was also worndering if the longer you had these things the less effective they become. Its only supposed to be there for 5 years.

super mom, I have been pregnant with the IUD in place.. so i am sorry to tell you that it does HAPPEN.. thankfully i was one of the lucky ones..and was able to carry my baby , and deliver him healthy. When i was pregnant although there were not many sites available for me to search..i did find other woman who were also pregnant. some had had miscarriages, others had lost their uterus do to infection from the IUD, and one shared how she almost died do to severe infection. I am sorry you are going through this. I had to carry my baby with the IUD becasue the doctor couldnt remove it..so my outcome was unknown, but more than once i was told to terminate.
