How do I improve my chances of conceiving a girl?
My husband and I would really love to have a little girl! I've heard a couple of theories already, like trying the few days before you're most ovulant, because girl sperm lives longer, and working out before you "do it" something to do with endrophans, I don't know, but any other tips or tricks are appreciated!! I'm willing to test out the theories, even if it doesn't work!

Below, is a quote from the following site: Yahoo! Answers - Can you increase your chances for having a boy/ girl baby? Information that you find there may be helpful to you. I hope that it is.

"* Test tube conception is the only truly reliable way to determine gender. Expensive, artificial, and potentially an ethical issue for some people. But reliable. There are also a number of sperm-sorting methods, again all reliant on laboratory intervention: I won't list them all here."

Its important to remember that the sperm is what determines whether you will have a boy or a girl. And short of medical intervention, mother nature is the only way to determine the sex of your baby. Even if you don't end up with a girl, you will love that baby just as much. Mother nature knows best;0) good luck to you

There are 2 options to you:

Having a lab select the female sperm, and fertilising you with it: Possibly unethical, expensive, takes all the fun away from having a baby! ;)

Aborting all male children until you get a female: Possibly unethical, harmful to your future prospects of having a child, emotionally draining.

There is, of course, a third option:

Loving your child whatever gender it turns out to be, letting mother nature take its course.
This one is the best choice, from most people's points of view.

Please note, there is a whole lot of rubbish out there about eating certain foods or sleeping with rabbit's ears down your pants on the third tuesday after a full moon or whatever. I can confidently say that 99.999% of these have no chance of working.

I wanted a girl as well, and I tried every trick in the book... From relying on the chinese gender calendar and only trying to conceive during the month that said "girl". I went as far as women on top position, and eating more sugar. I am having a boy... And as surprising as it was to me, I'm still overly thrilled. A baby is a true blessing, and there is some advantages to raising three little boys!! No one to still my clothes, or the emotional teen years... Although boys can be hyper, they all do look out for their mommy's!
Good luck!! And what ever myth(s) you try, don't start painting the nursery pink yet!!

I was told when you are done having sex to just lay down straight.. but I was like that once.. I wanted a girl really bad but now it don't matter what I get because they are all sweet

Google "Shettles Method"... it will explains how to increase your chances of having a girl.

But basically female sperm live longer... so if you can time intercourse as far away from ovulation as possible while still allowing conception to occur, most of the male sperm will have died and you will have only female sperm left :)

OMG, no one is going to do what you say when you can't even spell correctly and you type in capitals!

Please, mother's trying to get pregnant, do not drink alcohol as it will be more damaging than helpful.

Acid just increases the chance of a X sperm fertilizing the egg it is not a sure thing.

I have followed everything except I did have intercourse a day before ovulation which I guess was a huge mistake because I did conceive a second boy and was devastated. The month before I got pregnant I had sex up to 3 days before ovulation and didn't get pregnant so maybe my body won't let the female sperm live? Next time I am just going to live on tomatoes I guess and sausage! I was told to drink milk and I drank a ton and ate fish but then I was told dairy produces boys more often... so confused and upset...

Oh my goodness, how can you be devastated? There are so many couples trying for a child with no luck who would be grateful for the chance to be parents and you are feeling sorry for yourself just because you had boys... poor you. Stop moping around, take a look in the mirror and realise how lucky you are. I feel blessed to have 2 boys and sure it would be nice to have a girl to join the family but its not a reason to feel hard done by. Sorry to vent but I can't stand selfishness. If it's that important to have a girl try adoption.

Just so everyone knows who continues to post on this thread...

It's now very old and archived and no longer on the list of currently active threads. So, if you have a question to ask or would like to start a discussion of some kind, it would be best to start a new thread.

    Thanks!
