    HCG blood pregnancy test
I took a blood test yesterday at my doctors does anyone know how soon they will receive the results?

Is it posible that the blood test results come back negative, but I am pregnant?
I was supposed to receive my period 9/4/07 and I still have not, I am 2 weeks and 2 days late.

My friends & family are telling me that I am pregnant, but If I am the first day of my last period that I had was 8/4/07-8/11/07 so today I would be 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant Is THIS TRUE?

If you got a quantative blood test that measures the exact amount of hcg in your system, it really depends on your doctor, the hospital and what channels they have to go through to process the test... I would think within a week you should know. If it was a qualatative test that just gives a positive or negative reading, then you should know within 24 hours.(I found out my answer within 4-6 hours) However, either way, you should have been informed how long you should expect to wait for your answer... as they don't usually just take a test and send you home without giving you a time to call, or come in for the results. If you had a qualatative blood test, it is possible for the test to come back negative, and still be pregnant, AS a qualatative test only gives a negative or positive read out, and if your hcg levels aren't high enough, they won't register on it.(though these blood tests are much more accurate then hpts) If you had a quantative blood test, IF there is enough hcg in your system to point to a possible pregnancy, they will have you return within a few days in order to test again, to see if your numbers are doubling as they should in a normal pregnancy.(since they don't seem to have told you this, I am guessing you only had a qualatative test done)
That said, its not unheard of to be late, or even completely miss a cycle now and then. I was once two months late for a period, for no reason, and got right back on schedule after that. Many things other then pregnancy can contribute to a late/missed period. Stress, fatigue, illness, medication and/or birth control, changes in lifestyle, just plain healthy hormonal changes, or problematic hormonal imbalances, etc. best to just wait for your results, and discuss these results with your doctor.
