The dream to give my husband a child of his own
I had a tubal ligation done 6 years ago after my third child was born. I had the surgery because I thought I would be with him forever. Surprise surprise, that didn't work. Since then I have married a man whom I will be with the rest of my life, and of course I am regretting the surgery because we want a child of our own together. Several months back we thought I was pregnant, but unfortunately I wasn't, and that crushed us. I am about to be 33 in a few days and am trying to figure out if there is a chance I can get pregnant and if so, is there anything I can do to kind of ,help things along I guess you could say. I can't afford any of the procedures out there and pray so hard to be able to grace my husband with a child of his own. WHAT DO I DO?? Someone please help us??

Your only hope is to talk to a Doctor and see if it can be reversed. No, nothing can "help things along" if your tubes have been severed and sealed.

The only prob with that is that because of my age a local doc said it was too risky because it may at least a year to find out if the reversal took. And then IF it took, I would be in my mid 30's. I have heard there are other procedures that may work in my situation. Is this true?

Procedures other than surgery? Not that I can find but perhaps someone with some medical experience has a better idea.

I was not aware that women in their mid-30's are being advised not to get pregnant.

I was told that at my age is would not be wise to have the reversal done at my age since (1) it takes a year to find out if the surgery even took and (2) IF it takes the extra year to carry and conceieve if not longer.

And that still puts you in your mid-thirties.

I would look into finding a doctor who would be more helpful. It may simply be that your doctor doesn't have a good deal of experience with this situation so he is not as enthusiastic about the possible outcome.

Many women have babies in their 30's. Yes, you do have more to consider, but the vast majority will become pregnant and will go on to have healthy pregnancies and babies.

Here is just one site that will give you much more info:

Tubal Ligation Reversal by Dr. Berger
