Creatine and fertility

My husband and I are trying to get pregnant. Does the Creatine Monohydrate and Mega Whey he takes after he works out affect his fertility?

Hi Rachel1
First of all i compiled these two answers by researching this by asking fellowing Ph.D. students in med and checking with reseach compiled by the Zürich institute of cell biology. So that you get the most autentic answer:

First the Whey protein

This is actually made from milk, but refined in such a way that the Casseine is sorted away (i think about 80% of milks total protein). So you get a better variety of protein. This is healthy if your total protein intake is less than 2.5g protein per kg of bodyweight. Does not affect sperm count or fertility negatively.

Side effect are: liver and kidney damages if intakes exceedes 3g/kg bodyweight

Creatine (Pure Creatine)
Sperm cells have a high consentration on creatine. So this should theoreticly help on his fertility in short term. However don't take it if you have kidney problems. It has been proven to help female fertility in short term to because of its ability to help regenerate muscle cells.

Creatine works like this:
The ATP/ADP Balance rises which gives more ATP (energy needed for cells) and less ADP.
ADP is bad for the cells and cause cellular dysfunction, which results in muscle fatigue. It also complex binds water to the muscles which gives a added weight of 1.5-4 kg.

A normal diet gets the body 1g creatine per day(from meat). The body needs 2 so it produces it own. However Vegetarians should take a creatine supplement of 2 g/day because they can't get the aminoacids to produce it. Excess creatine comes out with the urine.

I don't know how much Creatine he takes a day, but if done correctly (for maximum effect)

4x5 grams a day for 10 days (can give a little headache and/or stomach pains)
then
5 grams a day for three month (for bodybuilders)

and one month pause. (for all, safety reasons)

Then it should not effect his natural production of creatine. Because this allows the body to regain the normal production rate. This is important since there are no known long time hazards of creatine (since there aren't research material for it). It is known that the natural production rate falls to about 70% of it normal in mantaining phase (5 grams day). restores in the pause. I STRESS THAT No one knows if the body can restore the creatine production rate if it is taken continues for 5 years or longer. So if he has he should go to a doctor after a month pause to get his Creatine level checked!!

Creatine helps against following: Muscle fatigue, muscle loss, Alzheimers, Cancer, heart problems, and age determined muscle loss
Creatine gives: More strength, faster growth of muscular cells, less dysfunction in cellular level, more water in the cells
