Could my baby be ok?

I went to the doctors for the first time 3 days ago. The doctor said I was 11w3d. He sent me to have an ultrasound done and i had gotten a cal from him later that day and he told me the results were in and that they didnt find a heartbeat, and that I had 2 choices which were either let the baby abort itself or have a d/c done. he didnt set up an appt for me to have another one done later on or anything. me and my fiance are so scared and worried, but i'm not going to have the surgery now, we decided to wait a week or even longer and have another one done with a better doctor. does anyone have any advice? is it possible that our baby could be ok? if there is any hope at all.... it would be good to hear. i have heard so many stories about doctors not being able to find heartbeats, and later on the baby is fine

I'm afraid the best people to answer this are your doctors. I do think it is a good idea to get a second opinion, because in situations like this, you want to be sure. I wish I could help more. good luck and best of wishes sweety.

just dont worry yourself to much because it can cause more stress on your baby. it is very common to not find a heartbeat early in pregnancy. so i wouldnt go through with any surgery right away because your baby could be fine

First of all, I am so sorry for what you two are going through...

I agree that sometimes a heartbeat isn't heard and the pregnancy can be viable, but the ultrasound will usually indicate whether the fetus is the right size for the age of the baby. I do think it is wise to have a second doctor's opinion before you decide how to handle the situation. If he gives you the same choice I would go with the d & c, myself... but that all depends upon how you want to deal with it. Sometimes you will be advised to have a d & c after a miscarriage/stillborn anyhow. It really depends on each individual's circumstances, beliefs, physical and emotional state as well as the doctor's own preferences.

If you trust this second doctor, ask him what he would advise his wife or daughter to do in similar circumstances.

Warm hugs,
Didi
