Clear stringy discharge over yellow discharge is that the mucus plug
Okay so when I go the bathroom and I wipe there is a yellow discharge and a clear stringy discharge over it. What does a mucus plug look like? There is no red or pink discharge with it.

PS I am 36 weeks pregnant and baby has dropped.

Could be your plug... it can look like just more end of pregnancy discharge, could be one large clot, or stringy sections... may or may not have pinkish/red blood in it, may be off color as well. The diarrhea can be a good sign of things preparing too... nature sometimes will help clean your system out, make more room for baby. Could be soon, could be in a few more weeks or so. Hopefully it won't be too much longer for you!

Well the discharge now is gone but the diarrhea is still kicking around, my girlfriend said normally a women that has dropped already will go into labour within 2 weeks is that true? I am hoping it is only a few more weeks I don't think I can take the back pain anymore.

It's not carved in stone... but generally first babies will drop a few weeks before and subsequent babies may not drop until labor is underway. Certainly there will be variations in any circumstance. Suffice it to say, you are at that anytime stage so there is no true way to know. Try to pamper yourself a bit, finish any last minute projects, rest when you can, and enjoy what's left of your pregnancy... :)

Walking is a great exercise in pregnancy... keep it up when you are in labor as well. It can be help baby get or stay in a good position and help your labor progress. As with any exercise, just listen to your body, and don't overdo it.

It could be some of the mucous plug... which is just a sign that your body is preparing. Labour could be soon or not for several weeks yet.

If the back pain continues, or comes and goes in a fairly frequent pattern, it would be a good idea to let your doctor or midwife know. Labour can start that way for some women.

It could be some of your mucus plug. Not uncommon to lose some. It can regenerate, so you may notice you lose more over the next few weeks.
It could just be discharge, which often increases towards the end of pregnancy.

I am 38 weeks 6 Days pregnant. I've been receiving lots of irregular contractions that seem to go quickly and not very painful. Which lead me to think that they are just Braxton Hicks. I got up this morning to go to the bathroom and it was hard to urinate. I could go but it was slow steady stream. I have dropped so maybe this is pressure of the baby on my bladder. When I got up to wipe I noticed a long string of milky white mucus leading from my vagina to the toilet. I had to take a toilet paper and wipe it off before I could actually wipe. What is this mucus? I think it's too long to be my plug.

It likely is part of the mucus plug. It can come out in sections. Between that and the increase in irregular contractions, you are getting closer... :) Wishing you a smooth birth when things get going!
