11 Days Late, - Tests, Never missed my period

So, I am already a mother of 4. I have never skipped a period unless I was pregnant. I know my body very well. Here is the situation: My period was supposed to come on 2/5/07but it still isn't here. I have taken HPT and they are all negative. I went to the clinic and they tell me it is negative. I am sooooo confused because I seriously have never skipped a period. Not once! Could I possibly be pregnant? I would swear that I am due to the fact that no period has come, but everything is saying i'm not. I am not stressed and there are absolutely no changes going on in my life. Can anyone suggest anything or tell me if they have ever had this happen? Could I be pregnant just not testing positive even after being late for 11 days????

The test that the docs ususally give you in the office, are the same kinds that you buy at the store. therefore no more accurate then the hpts you have been buying. A blood test would be much more accurate(quantative blood test is the most accurate of the two blood tests, but that one ususally has to be ordered by a doctor. a regular blood test is still more accurate then an hpt. however, some women take several months for their pregnancy to show up on a test, even a blood test.) Depending on how old you are, you could be gearing up for pre-menopause. you could just be late for whatever reason. our bodies dont always decide they need a reason to throw us through a loop. haha, frustrating as that can be. If you havent already gotten an exam from your ob/gyn, now might be a good time. They can do an exam and see if you have some of the more defining signs of pregnancy, such as an enlarged uterus and the blueish purple tint to the vagina that accompanies pregnancy. If you arent pregnant, they could help look into the reason as to why you are late. good luck, best wishes, hope all goes well. let us know the results.

I am 31 and have 4 kids. Everytime I have been pregnant I found out with a HPT within a couple of days of my period being late. We have been trying to get pregnant since October but have had no such luck. Maybe it is wishful thinking, but the only time I have never had a period is because of pregnancy. Have you ever heard of someone testing - even 11 days after their period is due even if they have never experienced that before? I guess I will just wait it out and see if it comes or not!

I have been ttc for about 6 months now. I went to the doctor for a test after being 3 weeks late. I had never missed a period before and thought I was completely normal. Turns out I am. My doc informed me that as women we will have 11-13 periods a year. In my case I wasn't pregnant, just missed ovulation and my period. It can happen. Our bodies are always changing. If you are ttc and missed your cycle you may want to talk to your doctor about taking a medication to get you started back up again. I took meds, and now have had two periods on time. Still no babies! Frustrating! Anyway, I would check in to that, and if you aren't certain that you aren't pregnant you could request a blood test. Anyway, to answer your question...it is possible to miss your period without being pregnant. Sometimes it just happens, but it's normal.

as I said earlier, some women dont have a confirmed possitive on a test (including a blood test) until they are already several months pregnant. so it is possible. but it is possible you are just late, or completely missed. I once missed two periods in a row, turned out it was perfectly normal, and I just started late on my second month missed. you never know. Your doc could tell you more, give you more info
