Have a 30k gallon inground and wondering why winterizing kits /chemicals are recommended before covering.. i'm asking only because each opener we find alot of dead earthworms and debri anyway and always have to use shock/backwashing anyway..if it is recommended to keep stains off the pool liner than okay that is good enough reason but, which chemical kit is best?

The addition of a winterizing kit to your pool changes the chemistry of the water, in that it lowers the freezing temp of the water.

If you don't winterize, you will find a lot more damage than worms, and debris.
You probably already lower the water level, but without the winterizing kit, your increasing the odds that the liner will tear from ice.
It will also increase the dirt/debris, and algae you will have to clean, at next years opening.

As far as the "best", some have more additives than others, that would be for you to decide, as long as you get a kit that will handle 30 to 40k you should be okay.

Oh....One more thing, if you sanitized with chlorine get a chlorine kit. Bromine, a bromine kit, don't mix apples, and oranges.
