pressure drops raises from 12 to 15 psi in 1 day WHY?

Just replced our 3/4 hp to 1 hp pump/motor. The psi goes from 12 to 15 in 1 day and is significantly less water pressure from the return. Nothing else has changed and it is a DE filter(EC30). Filter says to put in 3 lbs of DE..we put in 1 39oz and 1 13 oz coffee cans of DE..which is what we always did b4. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
