Fix for outside slash to above ground pool

The garderner (I think) must have scraped the bottom of my above ground pool causing some indent(s) on the bottom of the outside panels. On one panel it went through the aluminum (7 inches up from the ground area), So far it has not spouted any water but it is still cold (average tempature 40-50 degrees) my thought was to pry out the slashed area to get the inside rough edge outside and use epoxy putty, then when I take off the winterize cover use a patch on that part of the liner . sound good ,or is there a commpression type patch that would work? I want to avoid taking out the water. any thoughts? thanks
