Why is there a mild to medium rotten egg smell coming from my bathroom sink drain?
A couple of weeks ago, I had a slow drain in my bathroom. After cleaning the p-trap, snaking what we could and adding some lye, the drain problem seems to have subsided. A couple of nights ago, and again today, I walked into the bathroom and was greeted with a sulpher-like smell that seems to be coming from the sink drain. Does anyone have an idea as to what this might be?

    Thanks... Jon

Pour a 1/2 gal. Of bleach down into the sink drain and let it set over night. Next morning flush the mess down with 2 large pans of boiling water, (this is important). The bleach will dissolve any hair and make it slippery and the boiling water will melt the grease and get the mess out of your drain. Smell better now, Thanks.

I have well water with a rotten egg smell, from what I am told it could be the anode rod in the hot water heater. I don't have a hot water heater, we have a hot water boiler that is used to heat the house and the potable water, also is the water dangerous due to the smell.
