Why do I have water coming up through my floor?
Ihave a 30 yr old house in New Jersey. It has been an extremely wet year. My house sits on a concret slab (no basement) and water is coming up through the floor in the kitchen and laundry room. What could be doing this and how can it be fixed?

    Two things may be happening:

    1. You have slab leak
    2. Ground water level is too high rising through your slab

Question: do any of your neighbors have same problem ? Is your house a hillside property ?

Milo gave you two explanations. Let's see if we can narrow it down.
Do this: Wjth every faucet closed and no water running go out to the meter and check the little pouinter.
It shouldn't move at all. If you're on a pump shut it off and watch the gage, It should hold steady. B If the pointer moves and the gage falls you have a hidden leak under your slab. If all that looks good then you have a ground water problem. A french drain might just be your answer. Let us know what you find and we'll go from there. Back to you. Tom
