Where can I buy a chrome plated shutoff kit for toilet?

5 Answers Hi, I'm having the shutoff valve and pipe replaced on a toilet, it is chrome plated copper. I searched all over town and the internet but couldn't find one until I came across this site. On March 13, 2008, 04:36 AM MASSPLUMBER2008 posted an answer to a question entitled 'soldering a floor supply valve when the chrome covers the pipe'. The picture he added to the post is EXACTLY the item I'm looking for. If not the whole fixture, then just a pipe (needs to be 1/2" X 6"- 8" long) would be great. Could someone please tell me where I could find this fixture or pipe? I will attach the image. Hope to hear from someone. Thanks, Deb |

| There is one here, but a bit pricey ~$73. Local hardware store has them for about $15.00. As another option, I did this on a bath sink fixture. http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/attachm...-640-x-480.jpg It consists of a 1/2 sweat to xx female pipe threaded adapter. Don't remember the size. It's not shown on the picture. Then a chrome plated copper pipe. Then a 1/4 turn threaded female pipe to 3/8 compression angle stop. So, the estuceon can be replaced at will. I personally don't like compression. The valves like you want are availabe at my local True Value hardware store. They are not 1/4 turn though. The bell estucheon which covered the adapter.

| This is probably one too: BrassCraft SCS400A C 1/2" x 3/8" x 12" CP Note chrome is missing, but it's probably the "C" in the p/n. No mention of 1/4 turn or many turns. Seems to be sweat.

| Hi Deb: Like 21boat said, "you get these at local plumbing supply house" or at a local home depot. It is a 1/2" copper x 3/8" compression straight stop with bell flange. These can be tough, but not impossible to solder. The trick here is to clean about 2 inches INSIDE the shutoff with a cleaning brush and then to rough up the OUTSIDE bottom with plumber's sandcloth so the chrome disappears at the very end. Then flux and clean (use sandcloth) the pipe, then flux the first 2 inches inside the shutoff and install over the pipe. You may need to slightly crimp the valve to hold it in place about 1/2" to 3/4" off the floor...the bell flange is pulled up high while soldering. Anyway, that is an introduction to this shutoff....if that appears to be a bit much you may want to consider installing a compression valve like Afaroo posted...doesn't require and special tools or soldering skills to install.
