    What size drain?
I've got a two story house with a separate apartment on the upper level. I am in the process of remodeling my unit and have discovered a shattered cast iron elbow in the drain system for the apartment upstairs. I plan to replace the all of the cast iron (vents will remain cast with the new pvc tying in) with pvc down to the basement. Is 3" large enough for a toilet, bathroom sink, kitchen sink and bathtub? The existing setup has the bathtub drain going into one side of the closet bend and kitchen and bathroom sinks tying in to the opposite side. What size should I use for these two pipes? This drain system will service the upstairs apartment only as the bath in my unit is part of an addition which has its own stack with all of my drains tied in.

Kitchen sink - drain hole size [ 9 Answers ]

Remodeling kitchen... Kitchen sink we want has 3-3/4" drain hole, although most sinks appear to have a standard 3-1/2" drain hole. Our garbage disposal documentation doesn't state the drain hole size, although current sink appears to be 3-1/2" drain hole... Garbage disposal is a Badger 1...

3" PVC toilet drain size performance? [ 2 Answers ]

How appropriate and adequate is 3" PVC drain for a toilet? It would solve the current issue I have with a ridge from trying to mate 4" PVC to cast iron. I could slip the 3" pvc right into the main stack and avoid the butting of PVC and cast iron. I do see that most PVC toilet goods come in both...
