Well pump never shuts off

Last night I heard My well pump running and it never shut off. I turned off the circuit breaker and went back to sleep. Now I am trying to sort out why the switch will not shut down the pump. I believe the switch to be a square D Pumptrol. This is an old house.
Thanks for any advise, Rob

Let's first pinpoint the problem. Shut the pump 0off and watch the pressure gage. It should hold steady and not go down. If it goes down you have a bad check/foot valve and it must be replaced. If pressure holds then focus on the pump control box. When the pressure gage is up to the cut out point on the control box if the contacts are still closed then replace the control box. good luck, Tom
