Friends- I asked about water supply valve leaking a couple of weeks ago. Just got to repairing it. With some difficulty I got the packing around the stem and wonder of wonders the valve does not leak. Thank you.
However, when I turned on the water supply to the house (There was no other turn off for the water supply in the line which was leaking) there is a small drip of water, about one drop every thirty seconds, from the main water supply valve to the house. Have I created a worse problem while fixing a small aggravation?

Hi Paul,

Please describe the leak. Where is it leaking from? What type of valve are we talking about. Threaded, compression or soldered? Chill out! As soon as I find out what's happening we'll start to fix that pesky drip. Cheers, Tom

Excuse my ignorance, but I don't know the difference between one valve type and another. I'll send you digital photo of the offending valve. Thanks for your wisdom and patience.

You have a leak in the threaded 3/4" adaptor. So that you don't have to get into cutting the pipe and tightning the adapter let me give you a link to a product designed to stop leaks, (Your local hardware store might have it in stock) Click on; http://www.plumbingsupply.com/repairkit.html
Since the leaks so tiny you should have no problem in repairing it with the least amount of hassle. Good luck. Tom
