| Water Circulating System (both hot and cold) I have a slightly different than normal circulating system that I'm hoping to install. We live in Connecticut with cold winters and have a bathroom in a room outside of the primary house. This secondary room has electrical heat which we turn off to save money when not being used. We installed the bathroom using pex piping that runs outside the house and is not insulated. We have normally always drained the water from this system and fixtures in October and then turn it on again in May.
We were hoping to setup a circulating system for both cold and hot water to prevent it from ever freezing but the following questions still exist:
- How can we keep the water circulating and still be able to drain the fixtures (toilet, sink, and urinal)? The room won't be heated and any water remaining in the fixtures in prone to bust.
- We normally turn the water heater off when the primary house is not in use, can the water still be circulating without the water heater 'on' or the well pump 'on'?
- I would assume the water would always be moving through the hot and cold systems, but is there a chance these pipes could ever bust with water moving through them?
Appreciate any guidance you can give me.
Thanks! |
