Tub and Toilet backing up when Washer Drains.
Last night I noticed a gurgling noise coming from my toilet as my clothes washer was draining. This gurgling progressed into a bubbling, and finally an overflow of the toilet, as well as a back up of about 2 inches of water into the tub.

Playing around a bit I have found that when the washer is not running the toilet works fine, but when I run the shower the toilet bubbles and both the tub and toilet back up a little bit before draining normally.

I started with some Draino, last night, with no improvement, and have a 50 ft pipe snake on hand, but have never used one before, and am uncertain how to proceed.

Is anyone able to determine what the cause may be, as well as a possible solution? We rent, so calling the landlord is always an option, but I would rather attempt a repair on my own first if possible.

    Thank you.

It appears that all three of these items are feeding into the same drain line and is backing up from too much water going through the pipe as it can not handle the volume... should not be happing. Either the pipe is clogged or the pipe is partially collapsed. Tree roots like to wrap themselves around drain lines and slowly compress them, then the pipe cracks and fills with sand/dirt and boom you have a clogged drain. Start with the snake were the washer drain is first, see if it will go through freely. Repeat at the other locations. Next step would be to have a plumber send a camera snake down the line to see exactly what is causing the back up.
