Tub overflow gasket

Has anyone heard of or used the "ultimate overflow tub gasket" (www.ultimateoverflow.com)? If so, what do you think of it? It looks ingenious to me and much easier to deal with than replacing a standard gasket. It also seems like it never needs replacement. What do you think? I've tried to contact the company that makes it, but no response yet. Does anyone know if someone else makes one like this?

Why pay 20 to 30 bucks for one when you can get a new gasket for a couple of dollars.

But I can understand your post if you are the one selling them.

No, I'm the one considering buy it. Did you see it? It's not a simple $2 gasket. This device goes in from the tub side .... INTO the overflow pipe ...... So no outside-the-tub gasket is needed; it can't leak, it seems to me. The guy who makes it still hasn't responded to my email or calls. Just wondering if anyone has ever used this device. Thanks for the response.

Looks like just another high priced gadget that you don't need. Who fills the tub t6o overflowing every time?
Let's do the math. The gasket by itself is $14.95
Add the chrome cover ( and that's not including the trip lever and stopper) $21.95 and if you want it in brass or polished nickel $24.95
We3're looking at over $35.00 and thar's not including the trip lever or stopper.
The price of a regular chrome trip lever tub waste and overflow. $24.95
And when's the last time any one of us had a call to replace a bad overflow gasket.
My advice? Save your money and put it towards a nice dinner for you and the wife. Good luck, Tom

Yeah, but one good leak can ruin a ceiling or wall beneath. As to the other parts you mention, I believe I can use the existing parts already there in conjunction with this device. Still, I appreciate your advice and will take it. Thank you.

That's what the original gasket's there for. What ever happened to.

In over 50 years out in the field I have never got a complaint that the overflow gasket had failed causing a leak when some idiot overfilled the tub. Can you explain exactly why you think you need this item? Tom

I don't understand just why the plastic tube goes down into the overflow pipe. If the gasket that is at the top of the plastic tube seals on both sides, against the tub and against the face plate then why the tube. Also I am not sure that if someday you wanted to pull the linkage to replace the linkage or unstop[ the tub, will it pull up and out of the overflow pipe with the plastic tube in place.

Letmretellu,
You're going to hafta remove the chrome face plate, gasket or plastic tube and trip lever assembly all at the same time. The plastic tube won't "stay in place"

The original gasket (from 1970) has completely deteriorated, and the tub leaks from the overflow if the water reaches high enough, which it does when you take a bath. I have the back of the tub exposed, and I can clearly see the bad gasket and the leak.

I see your point. And I've also had the same thought about that tube interfering with the linkage. Thanks.

After looking at the thing that was being discussed I realized that it is make with a bar across the over folw opening and then the face plate is mounted with a single screw, so if you use this you can not use it with a tub that has a linkage running from the top down to the tee of the waste and overflow.
