replacing adjustable drain in concrete slab
This is my first post. I'm installing a new shower. After digging up the old mortar to put in a new shower pan I have the shower drain sticking out of concrete. I want to replace it. Can you suggest how I remove it? Do I cut it off and install the other one I bought. Any help would be appreciated.

You must first tell us what material the pipes are made of. Is this a caulk on drain or a flange type shower drain? what do you wish to replace it with? in short, we need more details before we can answer. Regards, Tom

The pipes are PVC. I bought an adjustable shower drain that comes apart. The one that is on there now is not sunk into the concrete like the new one is supposed to. Hope this answers your questions.

The old PVC drain will have to be cut out. If you can't get a saw down thetre use a inside PVC cutter,(see image). Good luck, Tom

How far down the PVC pipe should I cut or can i just use a hacksaw and cut level at top of concrete? will i need to dig our more concrete or not?
