Toilet not flushing correctly water rises when flushed and then does not drain
I fush my toilet (2nd floor) and the water rises as if it were to overflow and then it doesn't drain all the way. It may take 1 or more flushes for the water to completely drain. The toilet is 14 years old.

When we flush our toilet, the water level raises up (instead of going down) and not flushing completely. After quite some time, the water level goes back to normal level or lower lever. The drain people tried the snake, when they tried it worked properly. They said toilet has no problem and no clogs. After they went, when I used the toilet the problem repeated. It is nightmare now. Please help. We just bought this house. The home inspecter did not find this problem. I hope this would

Blazer, you need to start your own post and not piggy back on others. However you both may have the same issue. Problems like this can be a clogged toilet but it can also be a clogged drain line well after the toilet. Start by polunging the toilet several times but if that doesn't fix the issue then a toilet auger is the next step. If the auger does reach the clog you may need to pull the toilet and rod the drain line with a 1" or larger snake. If safe to reach I frequentkly check the top of the vent stack and rod from there. My diwit friend swears by putting his garden hose down the stack and runs it full blast for several minutes. I have had no luck with this but then he's the dimwit, not me.

I have one that most repair plumbers miss.. Look down at the bottom of the bowl. If there is a small hole, then that is a jet that starts the syphon action. If it's clogged the water will just swirl around and slowly go down leaving solids behind. Take your finger,(UGH! ) and run it around the inside of the opening. Over the years minerals build up and cut down on the syphon (flush) action. If it is rough or you feel build up, take a table knife and put a bend in it to get around the curve in the bowl and chip and scrap it clear. Next take a coathanger and clear out the holes around the rim. They start the swirling action. And last, check the water level in the tank. It should be 1/2" below the top of the over flow tube. And speaking of the overflow tube, Make sure the small 1/8" tube from the ballcock to the white overflow tube is connected so it discharges in it and that it's flowing when the ballcock fills. This is what raises the water level in the bowl. For a good solid flush they all have to work together. Hope this helps and thank you for rating my reply.. Tom

Thanks for the info I checked the problem and it was related to what you mentioned above however the water on my bowl entered under the top fron rim. It was indeed clogged, I removed the material and it resolved my problem.
    Thanks for the advice
