food waste disposal

Hi,
The situation is a food waste disposer; badger 5 plus-3, when it runs it sounds like a loose screw is rattling. Upon further inspection, looking down the sink drain, I noticed two shiny (compared to the rust colored surroundings) metal things that seem to be held in place by a rivet or it could be a bolt with the nut on the opposite side (inside the unit) that I can’t see, like a carriage bolt or something. Anyway, they seem to be loose and rattling. Can this be fixed or do I need a new food waste disposer?
Thanks,
Randy

Those loose parts are supposed to be loose, they literally hammer the food waste into bits. If your disposal is really noisy try putting about 1 lbs of ice ccubes into the disposal while the water is running. Allow it to grind up the ice and totally flush out. If your disposal is still too noisy it may need repair but try this first. Come back if its still noisy.
