Toilet flush: When I flush the toilet the water does not wash all around the bowl.
Toilet flush: When I flush the toilet the water does not wash all around the bowl. There is always a section at the front that doesn't get washed. I have tried pushing the end of a wire coat hanger around the rim, and I have used copious amounts of cleaner.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi Swiss...

About the only thing I can think of would be to shut off the water supply to the toilet and then flush the toilet so no water remains or refills the tank.

Then, lift the toilet flapper up and take some CLR (calcium/lime/rust remover) and pour it into the flush valve until you see some of it running out the rim holes. Let that sit for a few hours and then repeat this again. Let that sit as long as possible (overnight would probably be best) and then turn the water supply back onto the toilet and flush the toilet to see what gets loosened up and flushed out of the holes. Hopefully, you'll see an improvement... ;)

Let us know how you make out, OK?

Thanks I have tried that and it helped a bit. But still not washing completely. It looks free from any calcite. When I put the cleaner under the flapper, it comes out of the holes near to the cistern cleanly, I just need to work out how to encourage the cleaner to get to the further holes. Any Suggestions?
I have tried using a mirror and torch but it is impossible to see anything.
    Thanks for your help.

CLR will come out the holes but much of it should soak and eventually begin to break the mineral deposits down so I would recommend trying again... maybe multile times... should eventually dissolve... ;)

Other than that, I can't offer much more.

    Good luck!

    Hi Swiss,

Have you solved your problem of the toilet flush? I have got the same problem as you have had. I called my plumber twice but he could not fix it. If you know how to fix the problem, can you tell me how you did?

Hi 1c and welcome to The Plumbing Page at AskMeHelpDesk.com
"Same problem" tells us nothing! If you want us to help you'll have to describe your problem in detail since all issues aren't the same. Would you like to post back and give us your complaint? Back to you, Tom

    Hi,
When I flush the toilet the water does not wash all around the bowl. There is a part of the section at the front that doesn't get washed. About 4 years ago, I had new toilet. When my builder fitted them, it had the same problem as the above. He made some kind of adjustment (I do know how he did. I did not watch him doing), then water came through the front of bowl. Last month water started not stopping after flush. I called a plumber, and he replaced with new one (different model). Then, the same thing happened. The plumber could not make water wash all around the bowl in particular, from the front. The plumber mentioned that my toilet is faulty one.
Looking forward to hearing from anyone who can help me.

I'm still confused. And still can't nail down your complaint.
When I flush the toilet the water does not wash all around the bowl
Is it your complaint that the rim holes are clogged? Or that not enough water comes into the bowl from the tank?
There is a part of the section at the front that doesn't get washed.
All toilet bowls have a small section if front that's closed off.
Do you hang one of those blue bowl cleaners in your tank?
Now you're going to hafta tell me exactly what happens when you flush? Does it just swirl around and then slowly go down leaving solids behind? Does it not swirl when flushed? What's the tank level set at? I need information and I need a lot of it. If you can't get answers from two on site plumbers then I have to know where they went wrong.
The plumber mentioned that my toilet is faulty one.
Your plumber hasn't a clue and is just blowing smoke up your skirt. Lose him!
Give me everything you got and we'll see what we can do. Back to you, Tom

My toilet is the same, the water does not flush around to the front of the bowl, it gets smelly quickly due to this problem. I wonder if it is the bowl shape as it seems longer in the front and 'normal' toilet seats do not quite fit to the front. The flush is quite strong but it doesn't go round far enough.

I have just posted a similar question. But, having tried all different approaches, I found that water would flow through the front holes if I blocked up holes at the back. The toilet works much better this way but I'm still trying to find a solution so that I don't have to have cotton wool sticking out of the back holes all the time! I do feel that it is something to do with the flush not having enough power to force the water to go all the way to the front. I'm hoping someone can tell me for sure. If your water flows through the front when back holes are blocked then you may have the same (as yet unknown!) problem.

    Hi BBaluna

It sounds like you have a water VOLUME issue at the toilet tank.

Here, lift the lid to the toilet and observe the height of the water in relation to the overflow tube located in the center of the tank... water should be about 1/2" below the top of the oveflow pipe. If this isn't the case let us know and we can tell you how to adjust the water volume. Also, be sure that the flexible tube coming from the toilet fill valve sticks down and into the overflow tube... should also help here!
