Toilet fill sound every 5 minutes!
This is happening with both toilets in my house. It also happens when I bump or jar the toilet or turn on another faucet in the house. Every 5 minutes or so, the fill tube lets water into the tank for about 3 seconds, then stops. I have drawn a line in the tank, and the water level doesn't seem to be changing, despite this contant fill. I have also noticed when the fill happens, bubbles flow out of the fill tube, so not sure if it's water or air, but there is definitely a water sound. My sleep is disturbed by this constant sound and I'd love to get it fixed! Any help is much appreciated. Toilet brand is Sterling and the house was built in 2001. Thanks, Christyne

Looks like you have bad flapper valves, easy way to troube shoot is to close the angle valves mark the water line wait a while and then look for the water if is below the mark it is the indication of the flapper valve leaking, or add some food color to the tank and don't flush the tolet for 30 minutes, check the bowl and for the color water, if so this will also tell you that the flapper valve is leaking, good luck.

If your fill tube is not overflowing then I'd say your flapper is slowly leaking allowing the ballcock to drop and add water. First check to see if the water line is about 1" below the top of the fill tube. If it is then your flapper is leaking. Check it for any debris or build up of gunk that can be scraped of. Check the rim of the valve where the flapper sits for nicks or chips. If you find nicks of chips I'd replace the ballcock for about $9.

Turn the valve off at the bottom of the toilet until you need to use it. You can use it, open the valve, let it fill and flush.

There is some amount of water that helps fill the bowl, but it's insignificant so the order doesn't matter.

You can always flush using a bucket of water into the bowl until repaired. Flush with a dump and then add some water slowly to refill the bowl.

Yep, good-old flopper. Make sure you get the correct replacement flopper.
