Toilet bowl water level rises, almost overflows
Hi, I just bought a house and found out from the neighbors that there has always been a problem with the 1st level toilet. When you flush it, water gushes in EXTREMELY fast -- so fast that the water level in the bowl rises to about 1/2" from the top of the rim. It looks like it is going to overflow and then the water goes back down (like a normal flush). I checked the tank itself... didn't see any obvious problems with the parts. Do you think there could be a problem with the flush valve? Maybe a clog? Not sure and wanted to try to troubleshoot myself before calling in a plumber.

    Thanks for your help!

Sounds like a possible clog. Does the tub/faucets in this same first level bathroom have slow draining issues too?

No, the sink seems fine. It is a half bath, so no shower/tub. Should I try plunging or using a snake? Maybe call in Roto-Rooter?

    Thanks :o

Call the lawyer that did your closing. You may be able to call a plumber and send the bill to the seller. A good reason to have everything in a house working and up to code before selling.
