Is there a trap?

We are finishing a full bathroom in our basement/1st floor (it's about 18" below grade). The drains were roughed, but we actually had to move the tub drain a couple of inches to accomodate the tub/shower unit we bought. With the floor busted up you can see an elbow connected to a waste line, but not wanting to bust up the entire floor could we safely assume that there is already a trap for this drain in the floor?

It was inspected according to IPC in 2002. What do you think?

That "elbo" that you saw was part of the "p" TRAP. We ALWAYS stub up out of a "P" trap when we rough in for a tub or shower. We I wonder is how you moved the stub-up over " a couple of inches" without moving the trap or adding a fitting regards, Tom

Shower Drain/Trap

We didn't actually move the drain. We used a couple of elbows on the overflow line and rotated the tub drain line about 30deg. in order to connect to the existing drain. In other words if you're looking straight on to the existing drain, the overflow and tub drain have ended up jogged about 2-3" to the left.

We actually just got done testing the drain and making some adjustments. We've got the tub/shower in place and hoping not to have to move it again! Everything seems to be working properly - thanks for your help! This is our first time doing this kind of work so we'll probably have more questions soon!
