Sump Pumb and Drain Tile Install
I saw a couple of postings on here for installing drain tile and a sump pump. Can someone give me some pointers on installing the drain tile from start to finish. I have the broad idea down - just need more specifics. I know that there is more info that is needed to answer my question based on reading other posts and responses - so ask away and I will respond. Appreciate the help.

Sorry - I didn't really specify. I am asking about drain tile inside my house, in my basement around the perimeter and having that drain into a sump pump in the corner of the basement. I live in central Wisconsin and have been having major issues with water in my basement.

    My main questions are:
-How deep do I need to dig down
-How wide do I need to remove the concrete
    -What size tube
-What is a good way to lay the rock
-What type of rock works the best
-Good angle for it to drain properly
-How many/what type of pumps typically work the best.

    I appreciate everyone's time :)

Greetings from a Beloit Transplant to Florida.
Let's see if I understand what you wish to to.
You wish to jackhammer the floor up all the way around the inside of your basement and install drainage tile or perforated PVC Pipe to a sump pump and discharge it where?
Tell me. How bad is the ground water intrusion in your basement? Is it worth the expense and hassle of taking up your cement floor? Couldn't you simply install a pit and sump pump in the lowest corner where the water collects? Regards, Tom

I could try to install a pit and pump in the lowest corner - yes, but in the area that I am in, I have seen a lot of people struggle with just having that one piece installed.

Currently, my walls have several cracks - and yes I could fix them, but they are just going to spring up elsewhere . Also the floor is starting to heave and crack throughout the entire basement and each year continues to get worse. Last spring I had about 3" of water covering my entire basement.

I wish that just doing the pit would do it, but I don't think that it will be a long term fix.

As for the other portion - yes I wish to jackhammer up all the way around the inside of the basement and install perforated PVC pipe to a sump pump and discarge it out to the back yard. I will be able to follow my downspout drain out about 20' away from the house which at that point is a hill that slopes away from the house.
